Randel Thomas Ballard, 79, of Nelsonville, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. He was born July 21, 1938, the son of Estel and Earnett Mattingly Ballard. Randel was a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven. He retired after several years as a computer programmer with the Fort Knox National Bank in Fort Knox.
He was preceded in death by a son, Glenn T. Ballard; a brother, Stanley Ballard; and a sister, Judy Ballard.
Survivors include his wife, Suetta Jones Ballard, of Nelsonville; a son, David "Duck" (Pat) Ballard, of Nelsonville; three daughters, Karen (Steve) Heintz, of Nelsonville, Sharon (Harold) Wimsett, of New Haven, and Annette (Steve) Pavey, of Bardstown; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike (Alice) Ballard, of Louisville, and Dan (Mary Ellen) Ballard, of Bardstown; a sister, Sue (Johnny) Blair, of New Hope; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Chruch in New Haven with the Rev. Chris Lubecke officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Catholic Church Cemtery in Holy Cross.
Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, with prayers at 4 p.m. at William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St., in New Haven with the Rev. Chris Lubecke officiating and after 8 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday, Oct. 13, at the church.
