Richard Theodore "Ted" Barnes, 84, Lexington, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. Barnes was a Bardstown native, a self-employed realtor, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the First Cedar Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Emma Phannenschmidt Barnes; one sister, Florence Barnes; and two brothers, Edsel Barnes and C.A. Barnes. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Jury Barnes, Lexington; a daughter, Sue (Marty) Dailey, Lexington; two sisters, Victoria Montgomery, Henderson, and Clara Breed, Maud, Texas; a brother, James Barnes, Louisville; and a grandson, Benjamin (Alyssum) Bryant, Monterey, Calif. A funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday at Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home with burial in Bardstown Cemetery. Bro. Tim Lucas will officiate. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home. Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
