Rosetta Dodson, 78, of Bardstown, passed away Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at Hosparus InPatient Care Center in Louisville. She was born on Aug. 22, 1940, in Springfield to the late Arthur C. and Mary Spurley Reed. Rosie was a former employee of Nu-Kote International and owner of Rosie's Catering and a retired employee of the Bardstown City School System. She was a member of St. John A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church and in 2016 received the Concerned Parent Community Service Award.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Matthew and Nelson Reed and a sister, Catherine Anderson.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joseph L. Dodson; two daughters, Shonna (Joey) Sheckles and Kimberly (Kenny) Linton, both of Bardstown; three sisters, Elizabeth (Charles) Davidson, of Hinesville, Ga., Carlene (Bobby) Phillips and Sharon (Charles) Brewer, both of Bardstown; two brothers, Arthur (Kathy) Reed, of Bardstown, and William Reed, of Homestead, Fla., along with four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a host of cousins and friends.
The funeral will be at noon Saturday, Sept. 15, at Bardstown First Baptist Church with the Rev. George Woodruff and the Rev. Roscoe Linton officiating. Interment will be in Bardstown Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday, Sept 14, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road. Additional visitation will be Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. at the church until time of the funeral.
