Ruby Ethel Morris, 84, Chaplin, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at her residence. She was a native of Nelson County and a homemaker. She was a member of the American Legion Post No. 288 Ladies Auxiliary in Bloomfield and a member of the Spencer County Homemakers Club. She was a member of the former Chaplin Fork Baptist Church where she was active in WMU and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Morris, a son, Ezra Morris; her parents, Dewey H. and Ora Lee Bowman Prewitt; a sister, Bonnie Sweazy; and a brother, Marvin Prewitt. Survivors include three daughters, Ruby Diane Shouse, Bardstown, Rachel Morris, Chaplin, and Clarendia Morris Sweasy, Bardstown; four grandchildren, Angela Shouse, Ruby Juanita Lamkin, Morenda Ferguson and Marquita Sweasy; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Blanche (James) Hardin, Chaplin; five brothers, Bro. Norris (Betty) Prewitt, Tennessee, Kenneth Prewitt, Shelbyville, Harold (Dorothy) Prewitt, Bardstown, Hank Prewitt and David Cody (Marilyn) Prewitt, both of Bloomfield, and special friends, Jeff and Peggy Blair. The funeral is 1 p.m. Sunday at Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with burial in Highview Cemetery, Chaplin. Brother Bill Johnson will officiate. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
