Wendell Cornett, 79, of Bardstown, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at his residence. He was born Dec. 25, 1938, in Perry County, Kentucky. He was a master mason, owner of Wendell's Music Shop, a bluegrass musician, a United States Air Force Veteran, and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bev and Hattie Cornett; a brother, Gayle Cornett; and a sister, Cleda Watts.
He is survived by six children, Cindy (Donald) Walker, of Elizabethtown, David (Linda) Brown, of Louisville, Wendy (Wayne) Dial, of Elizabethtown, Denise ("Cockey") Carey, and Brenda (Dr. Bill) Hagan, both of Bardstown, and Aaron Cornett, of Clarksville, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bradis "Toots" Maggard, of Georgetown, and Zuela Hay, of Louisville; and two brothers, Neal Cornett and Vanzell Cornett, both of Bardstown.
His memorial service will be noon Saturday, Jan. 13, at Barlow Funeral Home. Pastor Gary Chesser will officiate.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, and 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 13, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may go to donor's favorite charity or church.
