William J. Manby III, 83, of Cox's Creek, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018, at University of Louisville Hospital. He was born July 4, 1934, in Houston, Texas. He was a communications officer for Disaster Services of Louisville, a graduate of University of Southern Mississippi. He was retired from the Army as a Lt. Colonel, and was a Junior R.O.T.C. program leader at Eastern High School, a member of Sons of American Revolution, a 4H Shooting instructor in Bullitt County, and a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William J. Manby II and Mary Louise Eubank Manby; and a brother, Thomas E. Manby.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mae Rita Manby, of Cox's Creek; two daughters, Elizabeth L. (Dan) Duncan, of Louisville, and Rita Marie (Steve) Holzknecht, of Bardstown; four grandchildren, Amanda (Ross) Gamble, James Holzknecht, Zackary Holzknecht, and Nicholas Holzknecht; a brother, John F. Manby, of Vicksburg, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Friday June 8, at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in Valley of Rest Cemetery in LaGrange. The Rev. Rodney Lynch will officiate.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 7, and 8-10 a.m. Friday, June 8, at Barlow Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may go to Wounded Warriors Project.
