Murray U. Collins, 93, of Chaplin, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, in Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Norfolk, Va., a retired service man with 20 years of service, having served seven years in the U.S. Navy and 13 years in the Army. He also served as a dietician for Morrison's Cafeteria and had been a salesman for Corvin's Furniture in Bardstown. He was a member of the Bardstown Senior Citizens, the Chaplin Baptist Church and a Mason.

He was the son of the late John R. and Mattie Hollingsworth Collins and was preceded in death by three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Keeling Collins; three stepdaughters, Sharon (Stevie) Thompson, of Bloomfield, Sheila (Terry) Curtsinger, of Willisburg, Angie (John) Lobb, of Jacksonville, Fla.; four adopted children, Jessica, Shawn, Karen and Leslie Collins, all of Chaplin, eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Friday, May 3, at Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Brother Gene Dowell, Brother Heath Woolman and Brother Marvin Redmon will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the Highland Memory Gardens in Mount Washington.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Houghlin Funeral Home.
