STENEHJEM, Katheryn
Katheryn Stenehjem, of Pasadena, California passed away at home April 20, 2013. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerome. Katheryn leaves behind 3 sisters, Murle Rack, Elizabeth Littig and Mary Johnson; 4 children, Jane, Jerome, William and Dorothy; four grandchildren and three great-grand children. She will be dearly missed by all.
Katheryn was born in Valley City, North Dakota on June 27, 1922. A graduate of Minot State Teachers College, Katheryn married Jerome Stenehjem of Minot, North Dakota on August 13, 1946. In 1950 when Jerome graduated from dental school at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, they moved to California. They lived in Redlands and Corona del Mar before moving to Pasadena in 1979.
Among Katheryn's interests were music and theater, antiques, gardens and reading. Active in her faith at Holy Family Church in South Pasadena, she was in the choir for more than 20 years. She was also a member of Christ Child Society of Pasadena. From 1988 – 1992, Katheryn worked at Port O'Call and from 1993 - 2009 at Dovetail Antiques in Pasadena. She was also a docent at the Huntington Gardens and participated in the South Pasadena Senior Center book club. She was still actively engaged in several of these activities at the time of her death.
Always open to new ideas and experience, Katheryn laughed easily and often. She was known for her devotion to her family. A funeral mass will be held at 1PM, Friday, April 26 at Holy Family Church in South Pasadena, followed by a graveside service at 3:00PM at Forest Lawn Hollywood.
