Alexander Jr., George W. - Sherman Oaks
George Whitaker Alexander Jr. (born 1946, Knoxville, TN) died at 68 years of age on July 16, 2015. He was surrounded by family and left peacefully after courageously battling a neurological disease for many years. He is survived by his wife Virginia Alexander, his 3 children and 7 grandchildren: Tom Alexander (wife Laura, children: Owen and Leah), Jean Frater (husband Mark, children: Basil and Ivy), Julia Bates (husband Daniel, children: Max, Aurora, and Fiona); and his sisters: Sybil Alexander (deceased), Deborah Vaughn, Virginia Thayer, and Pamela Fennell. George was a cast member and operations manager of Up With People; he was a pioneer in retail sales analytics, and co-developed accu-SPACE a technology-based marketing tool; George worked as an International Business executive for Unilever, North America, Europe and South America. He and his wife moved to the Los Angeles area, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Counseling West. George and his beloved wife Vee enjoyed life and travel. He loved casting flies on the Madison, and playing the guitar and singing with Vee. George felt equally comfortable in solitude as well as with his many friends: among nature, sport and music. His grandchildren brought him immense joy. George had a contagious enthusiasm for life, and inspired much happiness among his many friends and family.
