ALBERT EUGENE FRITSCHE
October 22, 1936 - July 7, 2013

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, in-law, and friend peacefully passed away at home after a 3-1/2 year bought with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Sue, their two children, three grandchildren, and two sisters.

Gene was a native of Los Angeles. He received his PhD in Geology from UCLA and then joined the Dept. of Geological Sciences at CSUN, in Fall 1963. Gene was a caring professor who made his students strive for the best, a strong mentor and role model, a leader in shaping the path of the department for years to come, and well known in the world of southern California geology. He retired in Spring 2000.

Gene inspired students and non-students alike by modeling an adventurous spirit, commitment, and compassion. He participated in dozens of service projects locally and around the globe. He and Sue traveled to all seven continents, sometimes with Habitat for Humanity or another service organization and sometimes just to explore and learn. Gene was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Reseda, where he sang with the church choir, and performed with the men's quartet.

Gene will be greatly missed by all those who had the pleasure to know and love him.
