1923 ~ 2013
Passed away at the age of 89. He was born in Oklahoma and lived the last 60 years of his life in Southern California. He graduated from the University of Missouri, where he met and married his wife of 62 years, Jane.
Doug always found the humor in the many events of life. His love of music and desire to share this love led him to teach High School music at Eisenhower High in Rialto and then on to San Gorgonio High in Highland for 30 years. He worked with thousands of students to spread the gift of music, He also shared a love of the outdoors with many camping trips with his wife and two sons, Kyle and Clint. The four of them, along with a group of families, traveled the west in their trailers picking up many stories and adventures along the way, all of them funny eventually after Doug had a chance to tell the stories in his own way. Which brings us to Doug's sense of humor. Not a day went by that Doug wasn't able to make us laugh at some point. As friends came by to visit over the past year, all of them had the same comment about how much they enjoyed his stories. He will be missed by all his family and friends but his stories and laughs will always be with us. He touched us all and lived life to the fullest as he hummed a great tune and spun a great story.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and four grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on Tuesday, February 26, 2013.
