Hilma Maria Johnson
In loving memory of a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Hilma Maria Johnson. Hilma passed on Monday, the 18th of March, 2013 and now rests in the loving arms of her Lord. Hilma left behind her son James Johnson, and daughter Marcia Murray (husband Doyle Murray). Also, she will be missed be 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Hilma was preceded in death by her daughter Anita Matthews and sisters Maria Glaze and Emma Daughenbaugh.
Hilma was born in Bocas del Toro, Panama in 1913 to Simeon and Maria Lopez. While in Panama, Hilma worked in the American Commissary inthe Colon Canal zone during construction of the Panama Canal. She emigrated from Panama in 1955 to New york city, in New York she worked for Mattel Toy Company as a seamstress for the Shirley templr Doll clothing. Hilma moved to Ca. and settled in the Inland Empire. She became a manicurist and built a reputation in Redlands and the surrounding areas as one of the best for manicures and pedicures. She took her time and was a very good artist with nails. Hilma moved from Redlands to Yucaipa in 1990 and continued working until 2000. After retirng Hilma continued to be an avid gardener, baker and crafter.
There will be a celebration of Hilma's life of Friday, March 29th, 2013 at The Bonanza Mobile Home Park 13645 5th street Yucaipa, Ca. From 4pm to 7pm. All who knew Hilma are welcome to attend. Please bring any memories and pictures you wish to share and be prepared to have a good time rejoicing in the life that was well lived by our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Hilma Johnson
