IRENE LUCILLE PACAK JUSKO
Ascended into Heaven on October 29, 2012 as she was surrounded and embraced by her loving family at her longtime home in Granada Hills, CA. Mom was 86 years young.
Irene was born in Flint, MI, the daughter of the late Helen and Waclaw Pacak. She graduated with her Business Degree from the University of Michigan
Class of 1948 (GO BLUE!), cheered for The Wolverines at over 25 Big House football games, and remained an active alumni and Kappa Kappa Gamma. She met her husband, Raymond, while working in Chicago, and they headed west to start a family.
Irene excelled and flourished in all she set her sights on. Her career at Los Angeles Valley College as counselor and mentor touched hundreds of students, and she was told countless times how she had changed their lives. Irene was also elected as President of the Non-Teachers Union while at LAVC, and was instrumental in establishing programs and systems to benefit the employees. An avid traveler, Irene visited all 50 states, most continents and countries, and was extremely proud of her Polish heritage, being a first generation U.S. citizen. Irene was a top notch tennis player, ice skater, musician, Christmas Cookie baker, hiker, camper, fisherman, Camp Fire Girl Leader, teacher, animal lover (Coco and Kiki), community activist, and Sierra Club Guest Speaker to name only a few of her unbelievable talents. Mostly, she was Mom to Sue, Jaymee, Mike, Rick and Joe, and Grandma to Kiley, Lynsee, Steve, Eric, Elizabeth, Kevin and Ryan. Mom is a True and Timeless Work of Art, a Gift to Cherish Forever. Her wit, intelligence, enthusiasm, generosity, and extraordinary sense of humor are unsurpassable - nicely played, Mom! We Love You Always.
The celebratory Memorial Mass is at St. Bernardine of Siena, 24410 Calvert St., Woodland Hills, CA, on Friday, November 2, 2012, 11:00 a.m., with her friend Fr. Robert McNamara.
