James A. Summers died on October 31, 2012 in the Huntington Hospital in Pasadena. He was carried to the hospital due to a loss of consciousness after an early evening of retiring to bed. Medical authorities determined he suffered a heart attack.

James A. Summers served his country in the Army in two World Wars. He served God in service and dedication far nearly seventy years at Scott U.M. Church. From July 17, 1949, through February 22, 2012, James and Ella, now deceased, were married.

A service of celebration will be held at Scott U.M. church at 444 Orange Grove Boulevard, in Pasadena, California on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 10:00am for visitation and 11:00am Worship. Reverend Dr. James A. Stevenson, Senior Pastor. Interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.

In lieu of flowers a gift to Scott U.M Church Pre-School will honor James A. Summers long deep passion for education and access readiness for life long learning. Checks may be made as follows: Scott U.M Church Pre-School; all gifts will be acknowledged by written response.
