Kenneth Earl Joris
Ken Joris passed away peacefully at home on Nov 27 due to kidney cancer. He was 86. Ken will long be remembered as a man who worked diligently to provide well for his family. He was a compassionate man who literally "never met a stranger." He loved to talk with people, was unjudging, and unfailingly happy. Ken could make or do almost anything.
Ken was born in San Bernardino in 1926, graduated San Bernardino High School in 1944, married his sweetheart JoEllen Kerr in 1952, and continued here his whole life. He served as a Naval Aviator in WWII. Ken, along with his father, were principals at San Bernardino Steel & Machine through much of the 1960s. Ken taught welding for 34 years at San Bernardino Valley College and changed hundreds of lives by giving students a ready ear and a vocation. He actively volunteered with Vocational Industrial Clubs of America to encourage high school and college students to consider a welding career.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Mattie, and sister Luella. He is survived by his sister Annetta, his wife of 60 years JoEllen, his 3 children JoEtta, Jeffery & Kent. He has 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Services will be held at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel on Monday Dec 3. Viewing 10AM, Funeral 12PM, Mt View Cemetery graveside following. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Ken's name to the Visiting Nurse Association, 150 W First St, Suite 270. Claremont, CA 91711 (909) 624-3574.
