Opal Badders Leighty
Opal Badders Leighty passed away at the Claremont Manor Care Center on June 25, 2013, just 10 days shy of her 94th birthday on July 6, 1919. She was born in Pomona, California where she grew up on a farm in a family with ten brothers and sisters. She lived her entire life in the Valley. Opal was predeceased by her husband, Murrie D. Leighty, in 1998, and her son, David M. Leighty, in 2008. She is survived by her two daughters: Beverly Hall (Jack) of Claremont, California, and Barbara Compton (David) of Arlington, Virginia. She was a loving "Nana" to 3 grand- children: Gregory and Jeffrey Stegall of Northern California, and Linda Offutt of Washington, and was blessed with 8 great grandchildren and 2 great-great granddaughters. She also is survived by a sister and brother and many extended family members who she loved as well. She was a member of the Pomona Opti-Mrs, volunteered on the Pomona Meals on Wheels and was a member of the La Verne Heights Presbyterian Church. She will be deeply missed by her family; she loved helping others, had a generous heart and a joyful spirit.
Services will be held at the Pomona Mausoleum at 502 E. Franklin, Pomona, CA on Friday, July 12, 2013, at 2:00 P.M.
