1944 - 2013

Richard Jeffery Ayres, 68, entered life on earth in Baltimore, Maryland on August 30, 1944 and peacefully slipped into the arms of Jesus in Cypress,California on April 13, 2013. He struggled with a bad aorta for only one week before he unexpectedly passed away. He was raised in an Air Force military family living in Maryland, Pennsylvania, England, Florida, Washington and California. He served in a tour of duty in Vietnam and was in the Navy from 1966 to 1974, subsequently graduating from Chapman College and having a career with Rockwell Semiconductor (Conexant) as a Financial Manager from 1975 to 1998. He retired and had 15 wonderful years of full of faith, fun, family and friends doing all the things he loved. Rick was extremely loyal and extended abundant grace to others. Rick was a man who loved the Lord and served in many capacities at church including missionary trips, visiting and tending to hospitalized friends, bible studies and the Kairos Prison Ministry. He loved his family and spoiled every one of them; camping with friends in his RV club; golfing (and more golfing!); sports - all sports; crossword puzzles, sudoku, card and board games - he loved competition! Rick had a special passion for food, was well-known for his signature tri-tip, and loved a good steak, red wine and dark chocolate. Rick was predeceased by his mother Dorothy Ayres and father Alvah Ayres; survived by his wife, Linda Ayres; daughter, Jeniffer Noreen Hutson Ayres (fiance Dennis Schultz); grandson, Michael; son, Jef Jon Ayres (Laura); grandson, RJ; and their mother, Noreen Martha Orman Ayres; sister, Cathy Scott (Don); stepdaughters, Diana Post (Tim) and Susie Dinsmore (Russell); uncle, Jim McMunn (Sonya); cousins, JoAnne Giese (Brian), Robin Meyer (Howard) and Debbie Williams (Tom). Also survived by Chuck and Judy McFerrin (sister-in-law & husband), Stuart and Jan Clodfelder (brother-in-law and wife), and Brian Clodfelder (brother-in-law.). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, 8 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, April 6th at 11 a.m. at Calvary Chapel, Pacific Coast, 6400 Westminster Blvd., Westminster, CA. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rick Ayres may be made and checks payable to: Kairos Prison Ministry International in care of: Tim Hammond, 14810 Foxglove Dr. Chino Hills, CA 91709. Internment will be at Riverside National Cemetery at a later date.
