Born July 14, 1923 in Trenton, NY, Shirley attended Nursing School at the Utica State Hospital. Following her graduation, she went to Nome, Alaska with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. After the end of WWII, she moved to Pasadena to attend UCLA
, where she graduated with a B.S. in Nursing. It was in Southern California that she met her husband and raised her family. A long-time resident of Southern California, Shirley served as State Action Director for the League of Women Voters. She also had long-term involvement with Planned Parenthood and Young and Healthy.
A beloved wife, mother, friend, and neighbor, she will always be remembered for her commitment to her community, her warmth, kindness, and her love of chocolate. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Long Mauller, and survived by her sons Marcus, Bret, and Daniel. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014, 3:00pm at the Neighborhood Church, 301 N. Orange Grove Blvd. in Pasadena.
