Thomas Reyes

December 21, 1927- June 16, 2013

Born in Los Angeles, CA, to Fred and Maria Reyes. The 5th son of 15 children raised in the North Hollywood area.

He joined the Marine Corp in October, 1945, and served in China in the waning days of World War II, guarding the supply trains vital to the war in the Pacific. Achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. His proudest time as a Marine was providing Honor Escort Duty to his fallen comrades on their journey home. Back in Los Angeles, decades in the retail Grocery industry followed; from the A&P (where he met his future wife), to the old Mutual Farms Market in L.A., through his many years as a store manager for Hughes Markets.

On August 28, 1955 he wed Vera Ruth Willets. They moved from Culver City to Oak Park in 1966. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage; Raising two children, living, loving, traveling, and caring for each other. And then, last February, he laid her to rest. But he could not go on without his soul mate. Thomas and Vera were re-united on Father's Day, Sunday, June 16, 2013.

They are survived by their children, Mark, Melanie and Amy; as well as their grandchildren, Danielle, Heather and Collyn. Their great-grandchildren are: Kanin and Cali, with two more on the way from Danielle (July) and Heather (November)

A memorial service will be held at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park, Westlake Village, Tuesday, June 25th, 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation in Thomas's name to The Young Artists Ensemble at .
