Wilma Therese Lobe

LOBE, Wilma Therese

91, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2013. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Wally in 1988. Wilma is survived by her three children; Linda Johnson, Doreen Welborn and Joseph Lobe and by her three grandchildren; Cullen, Macy and Cooper Lobe. Wilma was born on Amrum, a small island in the North Sea of Germany in 1921. Her adventurous life began when she came to America by ship through Ellis Island in New York with her family at the age of five. She grew up in Brooklyn, where she met the "Love of Her Life", Wally. They married in 1942. Wally served overseas for four years during WWII and upon his return in 1947, the family moved to California. Wilma was a 62 year resident of Cullen Street in Whittier. She was a long time Whittier Emblem Club member and officer, she was also a member of the East Whittier Lions Club with Wally. She attended St. Andrew Lutheran Church for more than 50 years and was one of their charter members. Wilma was also an avid bowler, bowling in the same local league for 50 plus years. Wilma traveled the entire world with her many friends and always came back with exciting stories to tell. She was a wonderful dancer, an artist and a hard worker her entire life. All who knew Wilma will be comforted by the many special memories that we all shared over her long, rewarding journey. A memorial celebration will be held Monday, January 14 at 2:00 PM at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 11345 Miller Road, Whittier CA 90604. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Wilma's memory be made to St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
