Gerald Houghton Obituary
Age 88, died December 19, 2013, in his home. He had suffered for many years from Alzheimer's disease.
Jerry was born in Farmington, Maine to A. Victor Houghton and Mary Elizabeth Willis. Gerald was deployed to several destinations including the Asiatic Pacific and Europe as a Surgical Technician in WWII. He received several medals including the Medal of Freedom and the Good Conduct Medal before being honorably discharged from the US Army in 1946.
Gerald was married to Betty Eleanor Greenlaw in 1951 in Yokohama, Japan. Betty and Jerry settled in Burbank, CA before moving to Granada Hills to raise their two children. For 28 years, Gerald was employed as a Parole Agent for the State of California. He retired in 1985 and enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, walking his dogs and studying current events.
He is survived by his brother, Harold; his children, Keith and
Sheri; and extended family members.
Gerald was cremated and his remains were buried at Forest
Lawn in Glendale, CA.
