The Lord reached down and took Annette home after a long and wonderful life of serving him. She fought her last battle with cancer with strength and grace from "her Savior." She took every opportunity to share Jesus with anyone who she happened to meet. Her witness was her love and kindness she shared with her family, friends, and total strangers. Certainly, on December 15, 2012, she heard the words she so longed for- "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
Annette was born in Oelwein, IA on February 21, 1929. Her parents, Guy and Agnes Bond gave her a baby brother, Lowell. When she was six, she lost her father in a railroad accident. Her mother, raising two children by herself, brought the family to California in 1947. She met and married Glenn Nicholas, and together they had two children, Wayne Leslie and Janice Lucille. In 1958, Annette became a young widow, and this is when her faith in the Lord began to grow.
In 1964, she married Ed Johnson, and they moved to Ontario, CA. As her children grew up, she was "Mom" to all their friends, even to this day. She was a witness to so many, doing the Lord's work through all of her health issues, sadness, trials and tribulations. She would tell anyone who would listen how the Lord helped her through so many things. But we knew that she was also serving God, and was a light to all who knew her.
It was in Ontario that she was led to Sovereign Grace , where she became a member of a very loving and caring church family. This was the happiest time of her life, serving as church secretary, prayer partner, councilor and surrogate mom.
Annette is survived by her daughter Jani Shank, son in law George Shank of Ontario, CA, her son Wayne Nicholas and daughter in law Barbara of Tampa, FL, grandson Glenn Nicholas and great-granddaughter Emma Nicholas of Hesperia, CA.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to VNA Hospice. They were a blessing these last years.
A celebration of Annette's life will be held on December 22, 2012 at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, 1168 E "G" St, Ontario, CA.
