Dolores Yeager

1928 - 2016

Dolores Elaine Harvey Yeager, 87, died Monday, April 18, 2016 in Northridge, CA. Dolores was born on November 18, 1928 in Chico, CA., but the town was too small for her big city dreams. She moved to Los Angeles in the 1950s, where she worked for the telephone company while teaching herself to read music and play the string bass. She went on to perform on stage with the Mike Wesley Trio and other jazz bands. She was a fan of Las Vegas, family holidays, dogs, and sporty, fast, cars. She raced a series of Chevrolet Corvettes and later, a 1971 Plymouth Barracuda. She often joked that she wouldn't be "caught dead in a four-door," and indeed, she never was. Dolores is survived by five of her six adult children, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Services will be held April 30th at 11:30am at the Musicians Union, 817 Vine st. Hollywood, CA.
