DONALD B. MASSIE
Donald B. Massie, 81, passed peacefully on November 27, 2013 in Prescott, Arizona. He was born on June 27, 1932 in Los Angeles, California to Wilfred and Dorothy Massie. He graduated from Los Angeles High School. Don was Honorably Discharged from the Navy Reserve after eight years of service.
Donald was a faithful and steadfast friend to many, and to some a beloved and admired comrade for virtually all of a lifetime. Don was the ultimate problem solver, ready at once to extend a skillful and willing hand to ease someone's concern. In his modest way, he was quite simply a superb human being. He will be missed by those who had the privilege of sharing his life with him.
He married the love of his life, Patricia, on Valentine's Day 1981. Together they shared their love of travel, adventure and family. Don is survived by his loving wife Pat; children Donald, Robert, Scott, Patrick and Patricia, 10 grandchildren, his sister Melinda and a brother Michael. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Martha Ann and a nephew Gary.
Don had a passion for steam trains and traveled the world pursuing his hobby. He also had a love of all animals and owned many different kinds over his lifetime. Don was a member of The Sunup
in Prescott where he became active after moving to Prescott in 2011.
Visitation was 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with service starting at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., Prescott, AZ. There will be a graveside service on Friday, December 6, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at the San Fernando Mission Catholic Cemetery in Mission Hills, CA.
