Elizabeth J. Noehren
Elizabeth Jean Noehren, known as "B.J." to her family and many friends and acquaintances died peacefully at home on June 3, 2012. She was a resident of Upland for 53 years.
B.J. was born in Chicago, IL on January 14, 1932 to George and Elizabeth Mahon. After graduating from Morgan Park High School in Chicago, Illinois she went to the University of Iowa where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1954.
B.J. worked at the University of Indiana Medical Center before moving west to San Francisco in 1956, where she sought new challenges at the University of California Medical Center. After moving to Upland in 1959, she initially worked at San Antonio Community Hospital and with the Visiting Nurse Association. She spent the next 22 years as the Registered Nurse at Montclair High School.
Following her retirement, she volunteered at the Ontario Red Cross, read for the blind and dyslectic in Upland and mainly volunteered with the San Antonio Community Hospital Volunteers. Always active, she relished reading, playing bridge, traveling and visiting casinos.
Her husband of 49 years, Walter Noehren, died in 2011. She is survived by her sons and daughters in law: Mike & Tina Noehren of San Ramon, CA; Mark & Karen Noehren of Huntington Beach, CA; her daughter: Christine Greenway of Melissa, TX; four grandsons: Jimmy, Jeffrey, Tyler and Shawn; and one granddaughter: Sara-Meilin.
She has donated her body to the College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pomona. After contributing to the education of medical students at the college, she will be cremated and her ashes will be spread at sea.
A local memorial gathering is being planned within a few weeks.
