HERZIG, Gertrud (Trudy)

Gertrud (Trudy) Herzig was 92 when she passed away October 16, 2O13 in Palm Desert, California due to complications that arose from an accidental fall. Trudy was born on April 7, 1921 in Rapperswil, Switzerland to parents, Carl and Elise Sigrist. Trudy was the youngest of her three sisters, Alice Diebold, Hedy Staub and Emmy Bockli. Trudy worked for the family business where she served as the office manager and officer of the corporation for 25 years. Trudy had a flair for always being the best dressed lady in the room. Whether it was at a New Year's Eve party, going to lunch for her daily slice of banana cream pie, or four-wheeling in Sedona, she was always dressed to the nines and complete strangers could never help but compliment her style. Trudy also had a passion for decorating and especially loved decorating for Christmas. Her talents were put to good use by the L.A. Arboretum where, for many years, she decorated the ornate Christmas tree displayed at the Queen Anne Cottage. Trudy is survived by her husband, Hans Herzig; son, Steve and daughter-in-law, Lori; and grandchildren, Colin and Alexa. A Celebration of Life will be held from 12 – 3:00 PM on November 3, 2013 at La Quinta Country Club, 77-750 50th Ave., La Quinta, CA 92253 (760) 564-4151.
