JANICE STERLING Obituary

Janice A. Sterling
77, died April 23, 2013 at home in Calimesa. She was born on December 19, 1935 in Alhambra, CA to William and Beulah Robinson Brown. She also lived in Whittier, Long Beach, San Diego, Escondido and Yucaipa. She married Jere Horsley in 1954 and enjoyed caring for her family and loved being involved in their activities. She was a Brownie Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, Little League Team Mother, Red Cross Backyard Swim Instructor, PTA Room Mother and Hospitality Chairman. She married William Sterling in 1972, moving to Yucaipa in 1989. She was a faithful member of the Calimesa Church of Christ, was involved in the Redlands Area Panhellenic Club, Women's Republican Club and was a founding member of Vision Quest in Yucaipa. Some of her hobbies included Jazzercise Lite, League Bowling for over 20 years at Empire Bowl, collecting and selling antiques. She also volunteered at the Yucaipa Family Assistance; serving as Secretary on their Board, the Calimesa Senior Center, where she also served on their Senior Advisory Committee, the Yucaipa Library and the Redlands American Cancer Society Discovery Shop. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill and is survived by 3 sons, 1 daughter, 2 step-sons, 1 step-daughter; 2 brothers, and 2 sisters-in-law. Her beautiful, loving, graceful presence will be greatly missed and she will be remembered fondly by all who knew and loved her. There will be a Memorial Service celebrating her life on May 18th at 10am at the Calimesa Senior Center. Contributions to the American Cancer Society would certainly be appreciated.
