The Guest Book is expired.
Laura A. Kaz was born in Chihuahua, Mexico in 1916 while Pancho Villa had the town under siege. She was raised in Guadalajara and came to Los Angeles with her family when she was 8. Laura worked in the family market and attended Immaculate Heart High School and Immaculate Heart College. She went to work at the Sears Olympic & Soto store as a translator and worked her way up to manager of the candy department. She met her husband, Jack Pringle, at Sears. They moved to Montebello and raised their three children. Laura was active at St. Benedict's Church as president of the Altar Society and as a Cub Scout Den Leader. She was also active in improving educational opportunities for her daughter, Susan. After Jack's death, she worked to support her family and put her sons through school at USC and through Law and Pharmacy School. She also helped all of her grandchildren complete their college education.
In 1973, Laura married Robert Kaz. They moved to Pasadena and became involved as volunteers at St. Philip's Church in Pasadena including serving as bookkeeper for the church. They traveled the world bringing stories of their travels back to family and friends. In 1988 Robert passed away, but Laura continued to be an active member of her community and an avid supporter of Villa Esperanza Services. She recently celebrated her 96th birthday.
Laura is survived by sons, John and Fred(Stephanie), daughters, Susan and Barbara, grandchildren, Jennifer, Lisa, John(Maria), Brian(Rachel) and Adam, and great-grandson, Jude.
