TYSON, Mary Webster

Mary Webster Tyson passed away peacefully in Pasadena, California on March 23, 2014. She is survived by her husband Richard, their daughters Candis Ipswitch (Roger), Julia La Grua (Tom), and Brooke Tyson, and grandchildren Flannery, Rosemary, and Beatrice La Grua. She is also survived by her brother Wilton Webster, his wife Helen and their sons Alec and Richard. Born February 10, 1922 to Wilton W. Webster and Clara Aunita Kessler Webster, Mary grew up in Altadena, attended Longfellow, McKinley, Marshall, and Pasadena Junior College, now PCC. She went on to the the University of Oregon where her studies were interrupted by WWII. In her fifties, when her children were grown, she earned a BA from USC and started her own business as a financial advisor. Over the years she served on the vestry of All Saints Church, the boards of Scripps Home, Westridge School, and The Valley Hunt Club, and was a tireless Trojan fan. In addition to family, her fondest associations were with The Quilters who shared her love of sewing, knitting, needlepoint and quilting, and The Fair Ladies who stage their annual sale of such crafts to raise money for Villa Esperanza. A celebration of Mary's life will be held in late April.
