ROBERT JAMES KURFURST
January 24, 1932 - May 14, 2014

Bob was born in Enumclaw, WA, where he grew up, and attended the University of Washington, where he studied Industrial Engineering. After college he was drafted into the U.S Army as a Military policeman.

Bob began his Industrial Engineering career with Jet Propulsion Laboratories in 1962 and in 1965 moved on to work for Litton Guidance and Control Systems as an Industrial Engineering Specialist. He enjoyed waterskiing at Pine Flat Lake every weekend during the summer months and also enjoyed panning for gold when he wasn't waterskiing. In 1977 Bob met his current wife, Marlene while working at Litton, and they were married in January 1980. He remained at Litton until he retired in 1992 after 27 years. Bob moved to Reno NV shortly after retiring where he worked for the State of Nevada until returning to California in 1997. He was brought back to his previous career in Aerospace in the summer of 2001 when Litton Industries was purchased by Northrop Grumman. He assisted in the consolidation of several small businesses into one entity in Woodland Hills, Ca. After working for Northrop Grumman until 2002 he went back into retirement where he enjoyed working on computers, playing cards, and spending time with his wife Marlene. Bob fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a member of the Greek Orthodox Church in 2013.

He leaves behind his wife, Marlene of 37 years; son, Bob; and granddaughters, Amber Miranda and Brittany Kurfurst.
