Ronald Harris Obituary
RONALD RAY "RON" HARRIS

Passed away on July 17, 2012, in Santa Barbara, California. He was 79.

Ron was born in Dallas, Texas, on April 19, 1933, to Susan Kemp Harris and Keith Harris. Ron graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1950. He married Donna M. Ellis on February 15, 1952. They lived in Canoga Park before settling in Chatsworth, California, where they raised their four children.

In his younger years, Ron worked in the aircraft industry. He was a State Farm insurance agent for 41 years in Canoga Park, California. He was active in Canoga Park Kiwanis, serving as their Lieutenant Governor of the Southern Division. Ron was a true "family" man and enjoyed coaching his sons in little league baseball and Pop Warner football. After Ron's retirement in 2001, Ron and Donna moved to Carpinteria, California.

Ron loved his family, his friends and traveling. Traveling throughout the world, he returned with wonderful stories, great pictures and new best friends. When at home, Ron enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, but mostly with his "Sweets." Ron and Donna celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in February. He was generous, fun-loving and kind.

His beloved wife, Donna; his children, Bob and Sharon Harris of Solvang, California, and Kimberly and Kyle Branum of Seattle, Washington; and his brother, Tim and Heidi Harris of Bothell, Washington, survive Ron. His seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive him. His children, Debra Harris Beardsley and Rick Harris; granddaughter, Kelly Harris Stimac; and brother, Ken Harris; precede him in death.

A memorial service is scheduled on Saturday, August 18, 2012, 2:00 p.m. The service will be held at the Carpinteria Community Church, 1111 Vallecito Road, Carpinteria, California, 93013.
