Thomas L. Sullivan
Thomas L. Sullivan passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 at the age of 77. Tom was born December 15, 1935 to Bernard and Gladys (Trow) Sullivan in Salina, KS. He moved with his family to California at the age of 5. Tom grew up in Long Beach, attending St. Anthony's and Poly High School, where he met his lifelong love, Patsy Lee (Pat). Tom served in the Army in Korea after the war, then Pat and Tom married in 1957 and raised 2 children together. Tom became an electrical contractor in 1966 after learning the trade in the Sullivan family business. He built his own successful contracting business that still survives and thrives today. He instilled a code of ethics in everyone who has ever worked there, teaching us all to be fair, honest and know what you're doing. Tom was a dedicated volunteer for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), leading the family support group and fielding phone calls for many years with Pat, then continuing to serve on his own after her passing. Tom loved classic cars and loved to show his 1940 Ford at local car shows, taking home many trophies. Tom is survived by his son Tom (T.J.) Sullivan (Lauri), daughter Erin Michelle Sullivan, granddaughters Nina Pocoroba (Jonathan) and Sara Sullivan and great-grandson Jackson Pocoroba. He was predeceased by his wife Pat and his brother Barney Sullivan. We will dearly miss you Dad - give Mom a big hug from all of us. Services to be held at The Little Brown Church, 600 E. 5th St., Long Beach, 90802 on Monday, April 29, 2013, 5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to NAMI LB, PO Box 91206, Long Beach CA 90809. The family is assisted by Luyben Family Mortuary, 5161 Arbor Road, Lakewood.
