Vivian Pastis died peacefully on January 2nd , 2013. She resided in San Marino, California for over 45 years. She was 83 years old. Vivian was born on September 21st, 1929 to Gus and Sophia Tripodes in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1946, Vivian moved to California with her family. She graduated from Mark Keppel High School in Alhambra where she was selected Valedictorian. Vivian went on to UCLA where she earned a degree in English Literature in 1952.
Vivian is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Gus, and her adoring children, Steve Pastis (April) and Pamela Buzas (John). She was also blessed with three grandsons, Constantine Pastis, who predeceased his grandmother in 2005, Nicholas Buzas (Danielle) and Lucas Pastis. Vivian is also survived by two brothers, Peter G. Tripodes (Paula) and Steven G. Tripodes (Georgia+), as well as many loving cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
Vivian was a long time member and supporter of St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church in Pasadena, California. She also had a 22 year career as a Social Worker and Supervisor in the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services. Those who knew Vivian loved her smart storytelling, sense of humor, and quick- wittedness.
Trisagion Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 4th at 7:00pm and Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 5th at 11:30am. Both services will be held at St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church, 778 S. Rosemead Boulevard, Pasadena, California 91107.
In lieu of flowers Vivian's family requests donations be made to the "St. Anthony Building Fund" at the above address.
