Verna Rose Dombroski, 92, of North Hollywood, CA, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013, in Woodland Hills, CA.
Verna was born in Carpentertown, Pennsylvania, January 10, 1921 to Paul and Elizabeth Balazek. She was baptized in Visitation Church in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania.
Verna was a dedicated nurse for most of her adult life; she received her Master of Science in Nursing degree in 1965 from UCLA. She worked at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank from 1953 - 1979 and was the Director of Inservice.
During WWII Verna served as a Lieutenant JG in the U.S. Navy.
She will be sadly missed by sisters, Mary Jane Stewart, Cecelia Cowan, Lucy Lute (Walter), Catherine Pennington, and Martha Bowden. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her daughter, Kathleen and her husband Timothy Huie in 2013; brothers, Paul William and David Balazek; and sisters, Anna Zavatsky and Elizabeth Duriscoe.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, April 5, 2012, at St.Patrick's Church, 6160 Cartwright Ave., North Hollywood, CA. Interment will follow at the San Fernando Mission Cemetery, Mission Hills, CA.
