RETTURA, Thomas James April 19, 1961- June 5, 2012 AKA Zippy, Fettuccini, Tom Tom passed away on June 5, at Carson - Tahoe Regional Medical Center in Carson City, Nevada of a massive heart attack. Born in West Covina to Ambrogio and Francine Rettura, he went to Nativity Catholic School and to Bishop Amat. He studied at California State University at Fullerton and California Polytechnic University at Pomona. Though born and raised in Southern California, he moved to Carson City, Nevada when his employer, Custom Stamping, decided to relocate. He started with them as a Tool and Die maker, then progressed to Quality Control. Tom had many great friends at Custom
. Woody, Jeannette, Nancy, Patty, Gus
all the Custom people were as family to him. Although he struggled with numerous heart related problems, he never complained. All of his friends and associates would never have guessed his adversities. He was a true hero to so many. Tom had a great sense of humor, and to say that he was loved by everyone would be a gross understatement. He enjoyed sharing his satirical political views to show his undying pride in the American way of life, and love of things made in America with American hands. One of his greatest joys was being involved with classic cars. He was a member of the Dayton Cruisers, as well as, Karson Kruizers and could be found at Hot August Nights in Reno, on a yearly basis, with his beloved American classic 1963 Chevy Impala ....as in 409 fame. Tom kept in close contact with many of his childhood friends
. Dave, Billy, Art, Bobby, Don, Charlotte, and Trisha
.too many to mention. They all looked forward to their annual get- together, boating and house boating, laughing, joking, some drinking, water skiing
more joking. Tom is survived by both parents; his four sisters: Marguerite (Edward) Finneran of Highland, CA, Christine Rettura of Oxnard, Terese Rettura of Fisherville, Kentucky, and Jacqueline Rettura of Carson City, NV; and his three nieces: Vanessa (Joe) Mc Parland, Heather Christine Perez, and Anastasia Sarah Finneran. Just two months ago, Tom's beloved dog, Lucky, passed away. A Memorial Mass will celebrated by Fr. Eugene Herbert at Annunciation Catholic Church located at 1307 East Longden Avenue in Arcadia at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday June 23rd. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to come to the family home in El Monte to share the wonderful memories of his life.
