Gregory Thomas Moore Sept. 3, 1961-June 23, 2012
Loving son of Horace and Doreen Moore of Pasadena and brother to Sharon Hunter,
Peter Moore, Paul Moore, Lisa Gauthier, Gavin Moore and Brendan Moore. Brother-in-law of Richard, Anna, Thanos, Alison and Diane and uncle of Rory, Brian, Kevin, Sarah, Colleen, Lauren, Ethan, Fiona, Tess, Kellan, Dove, Daniel, and Levi. Beloved husband of Laurel Merrill Moore.
Gregory was a graduate of La Salle High School and the University of California, Santa Barbara and in his professional life an expert in the field of Environmental Compliance. His gentle nature and warm and open spirit guaranteed friend and stranger alike would be richer from sharing time and swapping a good story and a joke. People were his priority and his treasure. Always empathetic and willing to go the extra mile for anyone, Greg never expected anything in return. Nobody in the family can recall a single instance when Greg lost his temper or said anything harsh in anger- a truly peaceful and sweet man. Although he did not have kids of his own, Uncle Greg could spend hours in play and raucous laughter carousing with his many nieces and nephews. His sharp wit and good-natured sense of humor meant his family and friends were always entertained. Greg loved to travel and had the good fortune to have seen most of the world by air and by sea, where he spent weeks at a time sailing with brother Paul on a whim and a prayer voyaging to wherever their hearts and a good trade wind would take them. Greg embraced life and as "The Boss" said- "It ain't no sin to be glad you're alive". His love of music was legendary and as true a fan of Dylan, Springsteen, and Neil Young as ever was. Greg proved that a man's legacy is only as big as the love he has the courage to risk giving away. Well, dear friends, Greg never played the game of life for himself and that's why he gets the big trophy- there will never be a day that passes that we won't think of him and smile. When that special song plays, remember our dear departed Gregory and sing to him and pass some love along to the person next to you- you'll never regret it Greg didn't. "The dogs on Main Street howl because they understand if I could take one moment into my hands mister I ain't a boy, no I'm a man and I believe in a Promised Land"
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 7, at 1:00 pm at Santa Anita Church in Arcadia.
