Henry Howard Shorr Obituary
Henry Howard Shorr
Past away at City of Hope on Friday, December 14, 2012 after a 10 year struggle with lymphoma. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 8, 1949 and lived a wonderful life with his bride of 37 years, Karen Garman Shorr. He is survived by his wife and daughter Christine and son-in-law Doug Reeves of Alta Loma. He also has a stepson Mark Hayes of Illinois. Henry also is survived by his sister, Gail Shorr and brother-in-law, John Sundberg of Alta Loma. The light of his life is his granddaughter Erin Christine 12, who he loved and cherished more then anything. Henry had many other grandchildren and great grandchildren but do not live locally.
Henry was a plumber and through many years of hard work and education became the Business Manager of local 398 of Claremont. He soon became Assistant Business Manager of District Council 16, Director of Arbitration. Due to illness he retired in 2001.
During retirement he once again found his passion for fishing. Henry became a bass fishing legend at Puddingstone in San Dimas and Vail Lake in Temecula. He set many fishing records that will be hard to break. He played the guitar and loved music, most of all the blues. He was a avid cook who loved to bar-b-que. Most of all he made the greatest pickles. He had a recipe brought over from Russia by his grandmother and tweaked it to make it his own. Everyone loved his pickles!
Service for Henry Shorr will be at Community Baptist Church, 9090 19th, Rancho Cucamonga, on Friday December 21st, at 11:00am. Light lunch to follow.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to City of Hope or in Henry's name.
