JUHREND, Marjorie E.
Marjorie E. Juhrend of Bradbury, and a longtime resident of Arcadia, passed away on February 5, 2013 to be with the Lord.
Marjorie Elizabeth Diercks was born to a Methodist minister, Dr. Clarence Diercks, and his wife, Althea Mae Diercks, in Joliet, Illinois in 1923. She was raised as an only daughter after her older sister Geraldine died at the age of six in 1928.
She met her husband Eugene Juhrend at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. She married Eugene in 1944 in New York City immediately prior to his departing for Africa and Europe with the Air Force during World War II. Marjorie and Eugene raised their five children in Royal Oak and Birmingham, Michigan. Following a brief stay in Port Washington, New York they moved to Arcadia in 1977.
Marjorie and Eugene were active members of the Church of the Good Sheperd in Arcadia, California. Marjorie was also a longtime active member of PEO, a sisterhood organization that promotes educational opportunities for women. Following Eugene's passing in 1983, Marjorie remained in Arcadia until she moved to the Royal Oaks retirement community in Bradbury, California in 2002.
Marjorie is remembered by her family and friends as a truly loving person with sincere interest in the human spirit, a contagious smile, and kind-hearted wit and humor. She loved her family, PEO sisters, church friends and her adopted second family at Bradbury "Seventh Heaven." She lived a wonderful, active and rich life, and was thoroughly involved with people. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who had the pleasure and opportunity to meet her.
Marjorie is survived by her five children, Geri Hikes of Ladera Ranch, Ca., Jill Monteith of Holland Mi., Jay Juhrend of Sisters Or., Julie Casey of Murrieta Ca., John Juhrend of Cameron Park, Ca., and eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
