ALBIN KAZANOWSKI

Age 87, of Woodland Hills, CA went to be with the Lord on March 14, 2013. One of four children, he was born August 22, 1926 in Terryville, CT to Matthew and Mary. He graduated from Bristol High School and attended MIT for two years before serving in the Air Force. He graduated from Northeastern University in 1951 and received his MBA from Harvard in 1953. In 1949, Albin married Mary Kotuli of Haverville, MD , who predeceased him in 2012.

Albin worked at Kaiser Aluminum, Untied Research, Rockwell and Aerospace Corp., where he enjoyed areas of operations, research and statistics. In 1983, while at Aerospace Corp., he published a paper for the space division, the Air Force Systems Command, entitled "A Quantitative Methodology for Estimating total System Cost Risk." Albin served as a consultant to the National Research council on the Space Station Casting. He also taught courses for six years at local universities on "Program/Systems Cost Estimating and Analysis". A highlight of Albin's career was his election in 1994 as the Chairman of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, at the 25th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing commemoration dinner in LA. Albin has personal letters from Neil Armstrong and Harrison Schmitt.

Albin was an active communicant of St. Mel's Parish, in Woodland Hills, for over 30 years. He wrote weekly articles in the parish bulletin titled, "Contemporary Catholic Theology," and started the first adult religious library.

Albin had two beloved children, Carol and Matthew; four grandchildren, Amanda, Stephanie, Rachel and Julia. Albin loved visiting with friends in London and relatives in Poland.

A Memorial mass will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2013, 2:00 p.m., at St. Mel Catholic Church in Woodland Hills, with a reception at the family home. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Sisters of St. Louis in Woodland Hills.
