Wanda retired from Imperial Reading when it closed, and spent her senior years enjoying her children, grandchildren and her dog Lucie, helping her family and friends, and cultivating many varieties of flowers, especially day lillies and digging and freely sharing her flowers with family and friends.

She is survived by her three devoted sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Donna Thornton, Darryl and Janet Thornton, Greg and Shannon Thornton; stepdaughters, Linda and Junior Collins and Connie and Darryl Oglesby, granddaughters, Christy and Taylor Thornton; grandson, Tanner Thornton and great-grandson, Zeke Price and step-granddaughter Teffany Marlow; brothers, R.L. and Joe Heatherly; sisters, Dean Sheckles and Faye Groves; a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and good friends.
The family is very grateful for all the prayers, visits, phone calls, food and offers of help.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Steven 'Thor' Thornton Scholarship Trust, Community Trust Bank, established in honor of Grandson Steven Thornton and funds an Annual $1,000 College Scholarship awarded to a local Campbell County High School student every year.
