Jimmy Virgil Soapy Herron, 77, of Madisonville, formerly of Jellico, died Oct. 30, at Parkwest Medical Center, in Knoxville. Jimmy was a supervisor for General Motors Corporation for 37 years. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a mentor of many young men over the years, and an avid sports fan after participating in baseball, basketball, and football in high school and college. He was preceded in death by his father, Grady, and mother, Vagil Lambdin Herron; brothers, Johnny and Robert.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Della Lucille; sons, Jimmy Herron Jr. of Dunnellon, Fla., and Brian K. Herron, of Alexandria, Va.; granddaughters, Marlainna D. Terry and Valerie L. Herron; grandson, Wade Houston Terry; aunt, Elizabeth Crabbe; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services were Nov. 2, with the Rev. Kenny Gillum officiating. Interment was Nov. 3, in the Douglas Cemetery.
Llewellyn Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
