Charlotte Overbey Owens, 74, died March 1 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Charlotte was a loving wife of 54 years, a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and playing the piano and organ at Demory Baptist Church, where she played for 30-plus years and was a lifelong member.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Josie Belle Morton Overbey; son, Mark Owens; brother, Franklin Overbey; sister, Joe Ann Dagley.
She is survived by her husband, Esco L. Owens of Caryville; son, Kevin Owns and wife, Vickie, of Charleston, S.C.; daughter Karen Norris and husband, Paul, of Powell; brother Lewis Overbey and wife, Carol, of Knoxville; sister, Connie Tackett and husband, Harold, of Caryville; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were March 4 with the Rev. J.C. Miller and the Rev. Tom Campbell officiating. Interment was March 5 at the Pond Cemetery.
Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
