Ernest Lee Whaley, 74, of Speedwell, died March 22.
He was of the Baptist faith, a U.S. Army
Veteran and retired from General Motors
after 32 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Bertha Woliver Whaley; sister, Veata.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Sue Edwards Whaley; daughters and sons-in-law, Regina Mae and Jeffery Smith, Tina Jane and James Stevenson, Rhonda Lynn and Allen Tompkins; son and daughter-in-law, Calvin Ernest and Nicole Whaley; grandchildren, Andrew and Autumn Gleesing, Jennifer and James Dickerson, Jessica and Eric Milashus, Samantha Tompkins, Brittany and Michael Parker, Sienna and Corbin Whaley and step grandson, James Stevenson Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jacob Dickerson, Rookland and Rhory Gleesing; brothers, Robert, Eugene, Floyd, Harrison, Edward, Bruce, Barney and Roy Whaley; sister, Margaret Hensley; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were March 24 at Cross-Smith Chapel with the Rev. Derrick Edwards officiating.
Interment was at Powell Valley Cemetery.
Cross-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
