George A. Smith

George A. Smith, 94, of LaFollette, died March 22. He was a member of Forks Grove Baptist Church, the U.S. Army Air Corps, a veteran of World War II who served in the European Theatre in the 7th Squadron. He was a milk and dairy products distributor in Campbell County for 34 years. He was honored by the South Campbell County Rotary Club as citizen of the year in for his outstanding farming abilities on the farm that he was born and raised on.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alex and Reba Hayes Smith; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Charles Thompson, Ora and Delmar Carr, Helen and Milton Hatmaker, Isabell and Alex Goins, Jeanette and Tansy Carr; brother, John Hayes Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth V. Heatherly Smith; daughter, Judie Tinch and husband, Steve; grandson, Steven Von Tinch and wife, Tonya; great-grandsons, Wesley Von and Calan Reid Tinch; great-great-grandson, Ayden Reid Tinch; sister, Shirley Mynatt; sister-in-law, Mary Smith; special friend Herb McGhee; many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were March 26 with the Rev. Ronnie Poston officiating. Interment was at Fincastle Cemetery with military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard.

Cross-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
