James "Bill" Widener

William James 'Bill' Widener, 65, of Jacksboro, died Oct. 2.
He had been attending LaFollette Church of God. Bill was proud of his law enforcement career and retired after serving 24 years as Chief of Police in Caryville and 14 years with Campbell County Sheriff's Office. He was also a US Army veteran, Boy Scout Leader for several years and currently serving as chairman of the Campbell County 911 Board with 15 years service. He loved his family very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chalk and Naomi Widener; daughter; Stacey Tindle; sisters Libby Goins and Peggy Jo Widener; brother, Ronnie; grandparents; Jeff and Elizabeth Baldwin.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Widener; daughter, Tiffany Widener; grandsons, Tyler Widener, Billy Tindle and William John Widener; brother Jack Widener and wife Marie; sister. Christine Paul and husband Carl; special friends John Hendren and David Goins; several nieces and nephews and a host of special friends & family.
Funeral services were Oct. 5 with the Rev. Bobby Hatfield officiating. Interment was Oct. 6 at Bakers Forge Cemetery with military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard and law enforcement honor guard.
