J.D. Bowlin, 93, of Jacksboro, died Dec. 10 at Cumberland Village Nursing Home in Lafollette.
He was born in Jellico on March 19, 1920. He was a deacon of the Baptist faith and a member of Lake View Baptist Church in Jacksboro. He was a heavy equipment operator and equipment mechanic in strip mining by trade.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mable Oakes Bowlin; son, Dennis Jay Bowlin; parents, Pete Bowlin and Emma Shipman Bowlin; grandson, Jerry Wick and several brothers and sisters and family members.
He is survived by his wife, Aretta Lawson Bowlin, of Jacksboro; daughter, Charlotte Ball and husband, John, of Williamsburg, Ky.; three step-daughters, Janet Williamson, of Jacksboro, Sharon Wick and husband, Jerry, of Parma, Ohio, and Faye Bader and husband, Bill, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Johnny Ball, Shayla King, Andy Wick, Billy Bader, Jim McGhee, June Clemets and Doyle Williamson; six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. One brother, Paul Bowlin, of Jellico; sister, Wilma Bowlin, of Jellico; sister-in-law, Flora Mae Bowlin, of Jellico and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Dec. 12, with the Rev. Jim McGhee and the Rev. Roger Stanley officiating.
Interment was at Bowlin Cemetery in Jellico.
Llewellyn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
