Peggy Geraldine Humphrey Tweed, 85, of Knoxville, died Feb. 15.
She was born May 24, 1927, in Harlan, Ky.
Peggy was a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church of LaFollette. She is best remembered as a hard-working, devoted mother. She was a graduate of the Kentucky Business College and she was employed for many years as a bookkeeper for the Harlan Daily Enterprise. An avid reader, she had varied interests and was talented in ceramics, quilting, cooking and canning fresh vegetables from her garden. She was also a member of the Powell Valley Homemakers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Edna House Humphrey; brothers, Jack, Bill, Ted and Jimmy Humphrey.
She is survived by her daughter, Victoria Tweed Howard; son, Michael William Tweed; granddaughter, Carla Howard-Torres and husband, Francisco; grandsons, Josh P. Howard and Tyler M. Tweed; granddaughter, Emily T. Tweed; great-grandson, Christopher Hayden Torres; sister, Barbara Humphrey Tweed; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Feb. 19 with the Rev. Tim Russell presiding. Interment was in the Resthaven Cemetery in Loyall, Ky.
Creech Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
