William 'Waddy' Blankenship, 74, of LaFollette, died Sept. 17 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born Oct. 27, 1937 in Jellico.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Sweeney Blankenship; parents, Shelley and Minnie Murray Blankenship; brothers, Marvin and Johnny Blankenship.
He is survived by his sons, Roger Blankenship, Carl Blankenship and wife, Wanda; daughters, Alice Kitts and husband, Steve, and Sally Ann Kunz; brother, Melvin Blankenship and wife, Sharon; sisters, Peggy Bolton and late husband, Hubert, Cherry Wilson and husband, Ronald; grandchildren, Michael, Andrew and Austin Kitts, Marie Kunz, Jeremy Blankenship, Isaac Blankenship, Britney Chancelor and Caleigh Parker; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held Sept. 22, with the Rev. Steve Bruce and the Rev. Ronald Wilson officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Cemetery in the Wooldridge community.
Harp Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
