Billy James Turner, 86, of LaFollette, died Sept. 9. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and the Sheet Metal Workers Union. He was a decorated World War II U.S. Army Veteran and recipient of the World War II Victory Medal. He enjoyed working for the Christian Journal Leader and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sally Moore Turner and Harley Turner and brother, Earl Turner.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wilma Turner; daughter and husband, Janie and S. Michael Siwinski; sisters, Francis Seals of Atlanta, and Dorothy Ayers of LaFollette, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services were Sept. 11 with the Rev. Lawrence Henegar officiating. Family and friends will meet today at 9:30 a.m. at Walters Funeral Home and proceed to Fincastle Cemetery for graveside services and interment with Military Honors conducted by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
