James Michael (Mikey) Orick, age 50, of Jacksboro, passed away Tuesday, June 5. He was a member of Ivy Grove Missionary Baptist Church, a graduate of LMU and worked for Woodson Cash Stores for over 20 years, a member of Campbell County School board for ten years and five years as Chairman. He enjoyed Politics, loved his dogs, and had a great desire to help people. Mike did not have any children, but he loved and was so proud of his nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Shirley Goad Orick; brothers, Charles Edward Orick, Curtis Lee Orick; best friend, Randy Comer; grandparents, Lawrence and Icie Orick, Marion and Hazel Goad. He was currently employed at Crook & Orick Real Estate Appraisal in Knoxville.
He is survived by wife, Jennifer Cornett Orick; brother, Rusty and Donna Orick; sisters, Charlotte Foster, Shelia and Jimmy Rutherford, Peggy and Ricky Brown, Debbie and Bill Wilson, Sandy and Steve Perkins and Cindy Wright; several nieces and nephews; special uncle, Raymond Jones; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Granville and Ann Cornett and dear friend, Jeff Marlow.
Services were held Friday, June 8 in the Cross-Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Vanover, the Rev. David Hicks and Brandon Elkins officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of Campbell County Animal Center, P.O. Box 221, Jacksboro, Tennessee, 37757.
